Mission

To promote & development of socio economic status of the people of North Western Province through the coordination of Agriculture, Animal husbandry, Fisheries, Forestry, Tourism , Archeological , Export sector and promoting Information technology, sustainable development with improvement of marketing to promote prosperity to Wayamba.

Introduction

With the implementation of the 13th amendment to the constitution by the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, it was the need of the hour to decentralized the power of the centre. With this concept the Sri Lankan Government decided to empower and strengthen the  Provincial Council set up. This was the base that was created the environment to form a statutory body under the purview of the Chief Ministry, North Western Province (Wayamba).

WDASL is always looking forward to develop socio economic status of the people of North Western Province in Sri Lanka. WDASL is a Government Authority of Sri Lanka which operates Development sectors such as: agriculture, tourism, animal husbandry, fisheries, forestry, information technology, archeological and export sector promotions.

Goals & Strategies

The major goals of the plan among other things is to

• To promote tourism sector in the province by Infrastructure development in the Hotel trade, By involving in publicity, Marketing and sales promotion activities related to tourism, and by promotion of sustainable development and tourism which includes the promotion to ECO-Tourism
• Transform the Traditional subsistence agriculture to one which raises farm productivity and provide higher income for those engaged in it.
• Stabilize and significantly reduce the cost of living of the population as a whole and provide and adequate diet.
• Increase productivity of treecrop small holdings to promote diversification of the economy.
• Provide greater employment opportunities in rural areas, by developing the collection processing storage and marketing network.
