Wayamba Cultural Fair 2011 for World Tourism day celebration.

The World Tourism Day is celebrated on 27th September in every year worldwide. In this year the theme given by the United Nations World Tourism Organization is "Tourism Linking Cultures". The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has taken steps to organize programmes at provincial level with responsible authorities based on the given theme.

Wayamba Development Authority is planning a cultural show and a traditional food festival considering, Sri Lankan traditional dancing & music, traditional food items, handy crafts, & Sri Lankan traditional costumes. The event will be held on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October at Badagamuwa Tourist Comfort Centre premises, Badagamuwa, Kurunegala. The main objective of this cultural show is to educate & entertain local and foreign tourists, school children, university students and the community about the tourism industry linked with cultures.

We expect a large gathering including local & foreign tourists, school children, university students & other guests & invitees for this grand and rare event.

Producers , sellers , dealers, agencies who engaged in food production, textile industry, travel & tourism, indigenous medicines, handcrafts, communication & other relevant fields are very proudly invited to take part in this event & market brand names locally & internationally.

Events - Daily from 10.30am to 10.00pm.

  • Indigenous and Ayurvedic Medicines, “Panchakarma” Therapy, Traditional food stalls, Herbal garden, Traditional “Wedagedara” and Herbal drinks etc.,
  • Handicraft, Paintings and Replicas stalls
  • Traditional food stalls and food making demonstration / Fruits
  • Displays on Historical and Cultural values of Wayamba
  • Cultural items African origin community in Sirambi adiya village (Puttalam) and Wedda’s community.
  • Many more private sector exhibition stalls.

  • Premises of the Badagamuwa Tourist Information and Comfort Center along the Dambulla road 4 km away from the Kurunegala city.
